Buying
Why is there no checkout on the site?+
Because half of what we sell is one-off. Stock changes weekly, specimen plants are priced individually, and cycads need a conversation about permits before money changes hands. Message us and we confirm the plant is still there before you pay anything.
What does "Price on Request" mean?+
It is a single specimen rather than a batch — usually a large or unusual plant. Price depends on the actual plant, so we quote you on the one you are looking at rather than an average.
How do I pay?+
EFT on collection, or before dispatch if we are couriering. We hold a plant for 48 hours on a confirmed order without a deposit.
Permits & legality
Do I need a permit to own a cycad?+
For indigenous Encephalartos species, yes — permits are required to buy, keep and transport them, and requirements differ by province. Everything we sell is nursery-propagated with documentation, and we will explain exactly what you need to apply for before you commit.
What about aloes and succulents?+
No permits needed for the aloes and succulents we stock, or for non-indigenous cycads like Cycas, Dioon, Macrozamia and Zamia. If you want a first plant with no paperwork, start there.
Are your plants wild-collected?+
No. Never have been, never will be. Every cycad on this site was grown from seed in our tunnels.
Delivery & collection
Can I visit the nursery?+
Yes, by appointment. We are a working nursery rather than a garden centre, so message or call first and we will arrange a time that suits you.
Do you courier?+
Countrywide, at cost. We bare-root and wrap smaller plants; large specimens travel potted on a pallet. Permitted cycads travel with their paperwork attached.
What if it arrives damaged?+
Send us a photo the day it lands. Bent leaves usually recover and we will tell you how; a genuinely damaged plant gets replaced or refunded.
After you get it home
It dropped leaves after I planted it. Is it dying?+
Usually not. Cycads sulk after a move and often shed a leaf or two before pushing a new flush. Keep it drier than you think and leave it alone for a season.
Can I ask you questions later?+
Please do. The WhatsApp line is open whether you bought the plant from us or not — a photo of the problem gets you a straight answer.
